John Rein Obituary

Published by www.News-Herald.com from Dec. 27, 2011 to Jan. 6, 2012.
John Jackson "Jack" Rein Sr., 75, of Concord Township, passed from this life to the next Dec. 24, 2011, following an extended period of declining health.
Jack was born May 19, 1936, in Cleveland, the second son of Harry and Dorothy Rein. He married Elizabeth "Jeanne" Hambor of Fairport Harbor May 28, 1955. They had been married for 40 years at the time of her death Oct. 25, 1995.
Jack's family moved from Cleveland to the Concord Township area in 1942. He attended Riverside High School. He coached his sons on the Braves Little League team for several years.
Jack retired after 30 years from The Ohio Rubber Company, where he worked with his brother, Bud. His job was as a tow motor operator, but his passion was being a leader in the union (URW Local 3). There he filled various roles including secretary and vice president. He later worked for his son, Rick in his construction business as a member of the 310 Laborers Union.
His greatest love was for his grandchildren. He was a doting grandpa attending ball games, track meets, school programs and filling a babysitting role whenever and wherever he was needed. He was also a good listener whenever the kids needed someone to talk to. Two of his grandchildren served our country in Iraq and both were often sent precious care packages from "gramps."
His wit and his wisdom, despite his medical challenges, were a mainstay until the very end. Wherever he was the staff loved him. His trivia knowledge amazed and amused many. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his sons, John (Sandra) Rein Jr. of Wooster, Ronald (Mistique) Rein of St. Mary's, Ga., and Rick Rein of Painesville; daughter, Karen (Don) Dlugosz of Highland Heights; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren (with two more on-the-way).
In addition to Jeanne, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Rein; granddaughter, Rachel Rein; parents, Harry and Dorothy Rein; and four brothers, Harry "Bud" Rein, Robert Rein, Bruce Rein and Terry Rein.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Concord Alliance Church, 7152 Ravenna Road, Painesville. Friends and family are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Meals on Wheels, c/o Lake County Council on Aging, 8520 East Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.

I have just found out that my friend Jack as gone on to be with our Lord and savior. Jack and I have been friends for over 30 years, working together at Local 3 and also when I went on to work with URW staff. Jack was always happiest when he was helping his brothers and sisters in the union movement, to improve the health and welfare for everyone. Jacks life was God and his family.Jack was always there to help during the good times and the bad. May God continue to watch over and bless the rein family. Ray and Mary Lewis

To the family and friends of Jack Rein.
I have just found out that my friend Jack has passed away to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Iam sorry that I will not be able to attend the memorial service for Jack. I worked with Jack for over 30 years with local #3 , and the URW International staff. Jack was a dear friend , we worked side by side in the union movement trying to improve on the health and welfare of our union brothers and sisters. Jacks mostly believed in God and his family, he also was very involved in the union movement, Jack was at his best while trying to help others. May God continue to Bless the Rein family.
