John Roper Obituary
A former Chesterfield resident, he recently moved to South Normanton.
He was a former Derbyshire and South Yorkshire businessman for many years. Owner of J M Roper Ltd, he was the previous owner of the Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, The Red Lion (Bakewell), The Devonshire Arms in Baslow and numerous other interests before retiring to Monte Carlo then returning to Chesterfield.
He was an avid collector of cigarette cards and old postcards and loved sitting by the side of his fish pond.
His funeral will be held at Amber Valley Memorial Park and Crematorium, Derby Road, Swanwick, Alfreton, DE55 1BH on the 10th of April at 1pm.
Flowers from immediate family and friends only.
Donations to Macmillan to be made at the end of the service.
