John "Jack" Thomas Rudden, age 76, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 29 at the Crosslands Retirement Community. He is survived by his loving wife Julia Riley Rudden with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Born in San Francisco, he was the son of the late John Thomas Rudden Jr. and Mary Baldwin Rudden. Jack married Julia in San Francisco in 1965. Together, they had two children, Anne Rudden Press and Jim Rudden. The family had many adventures and lived in Staten Island, NY, Tarrytown, NY, and Wiesbaden and Falkenstein in Germany. Jack and Julia retired to Kennett Square, PA. Jack graduated from Saint Ignatius High School in San Francisco and earned both Bachelor and MBA degrees from Stanford University. He was a partner with Price Waterhouse Coopers and enjoyed a 30 year career specializing in International Taxation with a concentration on Germany. Jack loved many things. He loved good food. He loved to cook. He loved speaking German, a language most people would say he spoke like a native. He had a curious mind and was always learning. He loved music of all kinds, particularly classical. He was a self taught artist - drawing incredible birthday cards for his wife, children and grandchildren throughout his life. In addition to his wife Julia, Jack is survived by his daughter Anne (Rich), son Jim (Wanda Kay) and beloved grandchildren Riley, Emily, John Henry, Sophia and Jack. He will be missed by his sister Mary Ellen Rudden of San Francisco, brother Jim Rudden (Pat) of Lakeland (FL), and sister-in-law Marge Summerville (Ed) and nephew Peter of of San Francisco. He leaves behind nephews and nieces Katie (Phillip), John, Beth (Brent) and Peter and great-nephews and nieces MacKenzie, Matthew, Megan, Malcolm, and Molly. He was also loved by Danielle and Lauren Press. Services have been held. My husband Jay, was a friend of Jack’s. They are now both gone. I am Jay’s widow and was reminiscing remembering a good time with Jack in San Francisco. So sorry he is also gone!
