He was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa, son of the late Jose and Francesca (Lara) Sabedra. He was a member of SS. Simon and Jude Church, Blairsville and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He enjoyed hunting, all types of sports and also gardening. He had worked for Conrail and retired from Torrance State Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by brothers: Pete, Torrance, Valleriano and wife Elena, Slickville, and Joseph and wife Peggy, Torrance; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday in SS. Simon and Jude Church, Blairsville with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant. Interment was in SS. Simon and Jude Cemetery, Blairsville. VFW Post 5821 and The American Legion conducted military services Wednesday morning in the Ferguson Funeral Home, Blairsville. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Latrobe Area Hospital Hospice, 121 Second Ave., Latrobe, Pa. 15650.
