Dear John, Danny and Sheryl,
We were so saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. He was really a fantastic friend - we have such fond memories - from the Super Bowl parties at Lil's, to the visit here, and the fun and food in the firehouse after the fireman's parades. Too many more to list here.
Please accept our sincere condolences.

To the Santos Family,
My deepest condolences for your loss. Mr. Santos was a gentle giant that served his Country and community selflessly. It was always comforting to see him as an official at swimming meets because I knew everyone would not only be treated fairly but also would have the opportunity to be coached / mentored for what they might have done wrong. I was one of many young athletes that he made a life long impression on. He will be missed. Sincerely, Mark Hicks

To the Santos Family ... I am truly sorry to hear the news of John´s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and John. As a swimmer, swim coach, and school administrator in the Westchester area for more than 50 years, I can truly say that John was a giant in our community, influencing the lives of hundreds of young men and women. He epitomized professionalism and class as he conducted swimming events at every level. He treated the age-group swimmers with the same dignity, respect, and "even hand" as afforded the international champions. I will always think of him fondly.
Rest In Peace, Mr. Santos.
Sincerely,
Jim Ryan

I knew John for over 50 years through the sport of swimming. John was not only a USA swimming official, but a key member and one of the pillars of the Westchester County Swimming Officials Association. He was a highly regarded and much sought after official at all levels of swimming- from local YMCA meets to theOlympic trials. When I was just getting into swimming officiating in the 1970's, John took me under his wing and helped me get started. I learned a lot from John, and for that I will always be grateful.
John was truly a giant in the swimming community, and he will be greatly missed.
