John Saunders Obituary
Feb. 15, 1930 - March 4, 2014
Cochran, GA- John A. Saunders, Sr., age 84, died Tuesday at his residence. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 A.M. in Cochran Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Private burial will be Friday at 2:00 P.M. in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Saunders, a native of Taylor County, had lived most of his life in Warner Robins before moving to Cochran 4 years ago. He was the son of the late James Lewis and Martha Elizabeth Wilson Saunders. He was retired civil service from Robins Air Force Base and a US Navy Veteran. He was a member of Cochran Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survivors are his wife, Janis G. Saunders of Cochran; children, John A. (Jessica) Saunders, Jr. of Barnesville, Gene (Cindy) Saunders of Macon, Tony (Lynn) Thompson of Dexter, Jeff (Terry Lynn) Thompson of Kathleen, Doug (Linette) Thompson of Milledgeville, Stan (Susan) Thompson of Cochran, Wade (Nancy) Saunders of Pocatello, ID and Amy (Scott) Romero of Madison, AL; twenty nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family is at 277 Bates Road and will greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Mathis Funeral Home. www.mathisfh.net.

Jeff, Brenda and I join with the many others, in the sorrow you feel in the loss of your Father. In conversations that we have had, I really appreciate what family means to you.It is too bad that we are never really prepared to say goodbye to a close loved one. May we just say "see you later" and be thankful for the grace of God that we may be reunited again.
