John M. Scanks
of Scranton, Pa.
John M. Scanks, a resident of Mulberry Towers, died Friday, October 28, 2005, at C.M.C. Hospital, Scranton, Pa. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Genevieve Dorsey who died in 1972. Born March 26, 1916 in Deposit, N.Y., he was the son of the late Minerva Jane Scanks. He was a graduate of Scranton Tech. High School and prior to retirement was employed by General Electric Corporation as a Truck Driver. He was a U.S. Army veteran in WW II, serving as a Sgt. in the European African Middle Eastern Campaign where he received numerous decorations. Surviving are a son, John Vincent Scanks, Friendswood, Tex.; daughter, Constance Johnson, Teaneck, N.J.; four grandchildren, Candace Green, Pamela Johnson, Keira Scanks, and Larry Pruitt; one great-granddaughter, Kaila Pruitt; and cousins.
A Graveside Tribute will be held Saturday, November 5, at 11:00 a.m. in Spring Forest Cemetery, 51 Mygatt St., Binghamton, New York.
