John Schroeder

John Evan Schroeder passed away on July 17, 2025, in North Fort Myers, Florida. He was born on August 31, 1946, in Salinas, Kansas, raised in Mn.

John earned an associate degree from Quincy Junior College and went on to build a successful career as a technical writer. Over the years, he contributed his skills to major companies including Raytheon and Time Warner.

A proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard, John served his country during the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Taiwan. His service reflected a deep sense of duty and commitment that carried through all aspects of his life.

John was active in Boy Scouts, earning rank of Eagle scout, remaining active as Cubmaster and Scoutmaster.

Family was at the heart of everything John did. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Kristen Dunne and husband Edward; his son John K. Schroeder and wife Jody; grandchildren William and Caitlin Filene, Troy Filene and Corrina Thomas, Alexis and Sean McAfee, Dakotah and Mandy Goetz, John K. Schroeder Jr., and Andrew Schroeder; and great-grandchildren Lilyann and Frederick Filene. Sisters Linda Burke and husband Ronald, Dee Ann Lothert, several nieces and nephews and close family friends.

John cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren-especially when it involved food, beer, or both. Weekly family gatherings were a highlight for him, offering moments of laughter, storytelling, and connection. He embraced every opportunity for adventure with family and friends-whether it was braving roller coasters at Busch Gardens (a personal favorite), camping under summer skies, skiing down winter slopes, or spontaneous trips out for ice cream.

A passionate sports fan, John followed football, hockey, and baseball with enthusiasm. His wry sense of humor made him a favorite among those who knew him-he never missed a chance to share a colorful daily joke or two with the staff around him.

John's legacy is one of warmth, humor, loyalty, and love-a life well-lived in the company of those he held dear. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Memorial Gathering will be held on July 22, 2025, from 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM at National cremation society 3453 hancock bridge parkway
