SCRABIS JOHN CHARLES
Passed away on March 26, 2016, with peace of mind and spirit. Born on April 6, 1940, in McKees Rocks, PA, John moved to Ross Township, Pittsburgh, PA in 1986 and later became a resident of the Lake Latonka Community in Mercer, PA. He was the son of John and Sophie "Sally" Scrabis and the brother of Larry Scrabis and Rick Scrabis. A high school graduate of St. Francis de Sales, John earned his civil engineering degree from Carnegie Tech (Carnegie Mellon) and his Masters of Business, Executive Management, from the University of Pittsburgh's Katz Business School. A very successful professional career within the commercial construction and construction management industry spanned 30-plus years. Two highlighted projects of pride were his work on the Pittsburgh International Airport and on Camden Yards Ballpark in Baltimore. A very rich life of family and friends was his greatest joy. John is survived by his wife, Lorie J. Scrabis (Lipinski). A marriage of total unconditional love, commitment, and respect. Surviving are his sons and daughters, John Matthew Scrabis (wife Melissa), Sharon Procyk (husband Dave), Lynn Scrabis, Dan Scrabis (wife Kathy), Kathy Scrabis, Johnna Scrabis. Also blessed with beautiful grandchildren, Alex, Isabel, Mia, Ava, Maura, Olivia, Nathan, Claire; loved by many nephews and nieces; as well as his sister-in-law, Michelle Burda; brother-in-law, Larry Lipinski; father-in-law, Stanley Lipinski; and best buddy, Chip. John will be missed but never forgotten and forever loved. Friends will be received Friday from 5-9 p.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 806 Perry Hwy., Ross Twp. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Teresa of Avila Church, Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by an interment in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery. Friends and family will then be welcomed for fellowship and lunch at Rochester Inn, directly following interment.
