Services for John Leslie Serrett, 90, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Pollard United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Rhoads, Rev. Ben Bagley and Rev. Richard Luna. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM, same day of the service at Pollard United Methodist Church.

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Serrett passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in Tyler following a brief illness.

He was born June 7, 1925 in Hamburg, Arkansas to Leslie John and Bessie Whitlow Serrett.

John was a long-time member of Pollard United Methodist Church. Prior to attending and graduating from the University of Texas, he was drafted and served in the U. S. Army. John was a retired pharmacist of 45 years with the company now known as CVS. In his retirement years up until just 2 weeks ago, he enjoyed his daily morning 3 mile walks, working in the yard, gardening, cooking, watching football, baseball and horseracing.

John was preceded in death by wife, Billie "Jo" Serrett; granddaughter Ashley McCaa; his parents; brother, William Serrett; and sister, Louisa Britton.

He is survived by his loving family including daughters Pat McCaa of Tyler, Nancy Frazier and husband Terry of Tyler and Leslie Hamm of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren Brandon McCaa and Clinton McCaa of Whitehouse, Matthew Frazier of Tyler, Lindsay Frazier of Austin, Jared Hamm, Derek Hamm, Amber Hamm and Gary Hamm, of Mesa, Arizona; great-grandson Lee McCaa and great-granddaughter Kaylee Hamm; and sister Bessie Bell Watson and husband Randall of Decatur, Texas.

Honorary pallbearer will be Tommy Thompson, long-time friend and neighbor for 56 years.

If desired, memorials may be made to Pollard United Methodist Church, 3030 New Copeland Rd., Tyler, TX 75701.
