John J. Spears, age 65, of Niceville, Florida formerly of McHenry IL, passed away on January 5, 2022.
He was born in Marquette, Michigan on December 17, 1956 the son of John G. and Jean Spears.
John married his beloved wife Lisa Froid on February 11, 1978 in Chicago IL. After a few years John settled in McHenry with his wife and kids, and they resided there for 35 years. John owned and operated his own construction company for 45 years. In his free time he loved spending time with his grandchildren as well as fishing, hunting and golfing. In recent years John and Lisa resided in Florida where he was a superintendent of the remodeling division for Alys Beach Construction. John was loved by many and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife: Lisa Spears; his children: John Spears, Scott (Heather) Spears and Carrie Spears (Tommy Hilb); his grandchildren: Mathew, Jason, Diego, Jeffrey, Tanner and Isabelle; as well as his brothers Jim (Patti) Spears and Jerard Spears.
He was preceded in death by his parent: John G. and Jean Spears and his brother Jeff Spears.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 11 , 2021 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home in McHenry, IL. Funeral Service will begin at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in John's name may be directed to Rett Syndrome, https://meet.girlpower2cure.org/event/tfr/account/495353/

My sincere condolences Lisa. I knew John through Billy Wiren, I was his girlfriend and I remember John to be a caring, funny, give his shirt of his back to help someone. He will be missed. Prayers to you and your family sharing this very difficult time.

I'm sorry to hear about John's passing. John was a real good friend of mine. I can't explain how much I'm going to miss talking to him. He was such a great contractor, husband , father and friend. Did a lot of concrete for him and brother jim. Again my condolences James.

We lost a good one here on earth. John was referred to me by a friend over 15 years ago as an honest and knowledgeable construction professional. He knew his trade.
I reached out several years later but told he had retired out of state. I am sorry to his family for his loss. I knew John as an honest and trustworthy man. He made this world a little better of a place.

Uncle John, Auntie Lisa & their kids were like family to my entire family and my heart hurts because their hearts do, too. My parents have lost a friend they've had since even before I was born. I remember the last time they all hung out together in FL (perhaps a couple of years ago) and when I called, my Mom was enjoying a homemade banana daiquiri and my Dad had gotten his first tattoo! All four of them were celebrating being together like a bunch of teenagers. That's what being around Uncle John (& Auntie Lisa) does, it brings happiness and fun and laughter to those around them. I have no doubt Uncle John has found my Gramps and my brother Dean and the jokes and laughter (and probably a few drinks while fishing) have already started. Uncle John, there is nobody quite like you and your presence will be missed by so many, especially those who were friends who were made to feel like family.
