JOHN J. SPELLMAN JR. AGE: 82 ROCKAWAY John J. Spellman Jr. passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Paramus. Born in Jersey City to Antoinette Brown & John J. Spellman, who was a Jersey City Police Officer, he then grew up in Lake Hiawatha. John served in the United States Navy and fought in World War II. He was employed and retired from the Ford Motor Corporation in Mahwah & then worked part time for the Morris County Road Department until retiring to Clarendon, Vermont. John was predeceased by his wife Eleanor (nee-Beaver) Spellman who passed away on 4/20/2003 & his brother-in-law, Billy Beaver. Survivors include his daughter: Joanne C. Spellman of Rutland, VT, Margaret A. Filippello & her husband, Michael of Parsippany & Lou-Anne J. Spellman of Rockaway; his sister-in-law, Joan (nee-Beaver) Benjamin & her husband, Bernard of Parsippany; his nephew, Philip Benjamin & his wife, Nancy; & his sister-in-law, Maryann Beaver of Boonton Twp.. All of us will fondly remember and miss him dearly. He was a wonderful father & a kind gentle man.
