I was so sad when I read this new. I'll always keep the souvenir of this family, and I am so grateful towards them for all the good moments passed with them as an au-pair girl. Reposez en paix Mr Stainton.

Very dear Ross,

As your niece I would like to add my fondest memories of all the times we shared over the last 10 years, especially your accounts of your recent travels up the Nile, Italy etc. Most notably I will always be grateful for the way you got the Turkish Airlines lawyer to look after me after Sureyya's death.

I very much hope I can come to the service to celebrate your wonderful life.

Your loving niece, Diana.

Sir Ross always supported the BA ex-trainees "BOAT CLUB".

As somone who joined BOAC in July 1952, Sir Ross was then General Manager Western Routes, - later to become Chairman of BOAC.

He will be sorely missed.
