John Stanton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 4 to Apr. 5, 2023.
The world just wasn't ready for another Ironman.

John Stanton, 74, passed away last week after a brief but courageous battle with congestive heart failure.

John was the oldest child of J. Richard and Mary Stanton. He is survived by his siblings Pam McDonough, Patty Cummings, Steve and Bob. He was an amazing and supportive dad to Alis (Jim) Colello, Jack (Laura) and Ed (Margaret). Being a grandpa to Patrick was a role he was meant for. He was also lucky enough to be a "bonus" grandpa to Oliver, Hailey and Tyler.

John retired from practicing law several years ago. He spent his life in the Chicago area so he was always close to his family.

As John was frequently known to say...

"No matter where you go, there you are."

I worked with John at the Illinois Liquor Control Commission when he was the Chief Legal Counsel. He was an incredible guy, always helpful and had a good sense of humor.
