John Stasko Obituary

John F. Stasko, 88, died July 20, 2006, at Crestfield Rehab Center following a period of declining health.

Born in Whiting, Ind., on March 16, 1918, to John and Elizabeth (Magdiak) Stasko, he lived in Manchester 43 years. An Army veteran of WW II, he served as a medic with the 506th Gun Battalion in the Pacific Theatre and at Iwo Jima. He worked as a machinist for Mal Tool & Engineering prior to his retirement. His hobbies included a passion for reading, fishing, and recording a vast array of music, which he shared with everyone he knew.

In addition to his loving wife, Constance (Morelli); survivors include a blended family of three daughters, Anne McAllister and her husband, Douglas, of North Palm Beach, Fla., Elaine Welch of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Jacquelyn Domaingue and her husband, Edward, of Manchester, N.H.; five stepdaughters, Sandra Garick and her husband, Bruce, of Coventry, Elaine Camposeo and her husband, Joseph, of Bolton, Andrea Nardi of Vernon, Kathleen Clark and her husband, James, of Manchester, Leah Nowicki of Andover; a stepson, Frank Nowicki of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Frank Stasko of Gahanna, Ohio, and Peter Stasko of Churchville, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A gathering of remembrance will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 West Center Street, Manchester. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Newington, immediately following.

Memorial donations can be made to Crestfield Recreation Fund, c/o Crestfield Rehab Center, 565 Vernon Street, Manchester, CT 06040, or to your local VFW.
