"Big John"
Age 70, late of Lockport passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Employed by Western Trailer for many dedicated years. John loved boats, trains, and enjoyed cooking. Above else he loved being a Poppy to his nine grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his father, Donald Steinbach.
Survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Ruth (Nee Laskowski) Steinbach; his loving mother, Mary (Nee Cassidy) Steinbach; three cherished children, Sara (Damien Irwin) Steinbach, Eric (Carrie) Steinbach, and Rory Steinbach; nine adored grandchildren, Chloe, Slone, and Evelin Irwin, Colton, Hayden, Brenan, Ford, and Miles Steinbach, and Landon Steinbach; one brother, George (Deanna) Steinbach; two sisters, Susan (Bob Devens) Steinbach, and Mary Ellen (Marty) Nawara. Per John's wishes Cremation Rites have been respectfully addressed.
Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, in the O'Neil Funeral Home Chapel 1105 E. 9th St., Lockport, IL 60441 from 1:30pm until time of Memorial Service at 4:30pm.

Big John was a great friend. Mere words cannot describe this man. I don´t believe I ever seen him mad. Always jubilant. We would just call each other out of the blue to catch up. I wish his family well. Prayers to all of them at this most difficult time. I personally will miss John´s hearty laugh. Go rest high on the mountain my dear friend

My thought are with Mrs Steinbach, Sarah, Eric, and Rory. I am in Florida and will not be able to make it to the service. There are a lot of great memories with your family. I am deeply sorry for your loss.
