John Swierk Obituary

John F. Swierk, Sr., 63, of Alfred Street, South Attleboro, a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed on September 29, 2012 at home. He was the beloved husband of Katherine (Souto) Swierk. Born in Cranston, Rhode Island on November 15, 1948, he was a son of the late Louis and Eileen (Coffey) Swierk. John was educated in Attleboro schools. He was a graduate of Attleboro High School and Johnson and Wales University. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Navy, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. John worked as a manager at several restaurants. He was currently working as a salesman in the food service industry prior to illness. John served as president and as a coach for the South Attleboro White Hawks Football Team. He was also a basketball coach at the Coelho Middle School and enjoyed coaching baseball in the South Attleboro Youth Sports Program. In addition to his wife Katherine, John is survived by two sons; John F. Swierk, Jr. and his wife Katie of New Jersey, and Stephen C. Swierk of South Attleboro, his siblings; James and Carl both of South Attleboro, and Linda of Cumberland, two grandchildren; Emily and Alex Swierk, and a brother in law; Ronald Soutu of Florida. 
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro where the Swierk family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 2nd from 4-7 PM. A funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, October 3rd at 9 AM from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Theresa's Church, 18 Baltic Street, Attleboro. John will be laid to rest with full military honors in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers and for those wishing to remember John in a special way, contributions in his memory may be made to: Hospice of CVNA, 10 Emory Street, Attleboro, MA 02703.
