John TANTON

TANTON, Dr. John Campbell (Retired Dentist) Passed away peacefully, on Monday, October 28, 2002, at Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre in Waterloo. Devoted and loving husband of the late Gertrude Winifred Lennnie Tanton (November 28, 2001). Beloved father of Jeanie (Mark) Baetz of Waterloo and Gordon (Leslie) Tanton of Aylmer, Ontario. Survived by sisters, Helena J. Tanton and Evelyn L. Noonan, both of Ottawa; brother, Arthur Tanton (Mary Jane) of London, Ontario and by a sister-in-law, Jean DeWolf of Arnprior. Loving grandpa to Julie and Kristin Baetz and Becky and Bill Tanton. John will also be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Dr. Tanton was a graduate of the University of Toronto in 1943 and joined the Armed Forces as Lieutenant, then Captain in the Dental Corps, HMS Stadaconna, Halifax, N.S. Dr. Tanton served in several Canadian Postings until the end of the Second World War. After the war, he established his dental practice in Ottawa, Ontario and continued this practice until his retirement in 1984. At Dr. Tanton's request, cremation has taken place. Committal service will take place Saturday, November 9, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau. Following the committal, a celebration of John's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Grandview Baptist Church, 239 Old Chicopee Dr, Kitchener, with Rev. Don Howard officiating. Following the memorial service, family and friends are invited to Bankside Terrace, 71 Bankside Dr., Kitchener, for sharing memories and light refreshments. Many, many thanks and appreciation to the staff at Bankside Terrace and Columbia Forest Long Term Care Centre for their excellent care given to John during his last two and a half years of life. John loved and appreciated you all so much.
