After I was hit on a bicycle by a truck, John decompressed my facial nerve that was pressured by a fractured skull. I owe him so much, John was a great man and surgeon. RIP

A Gentleman and a Scholar

Dr John Tonkin operated on my sinuses on 2 occasions and was a brilliant surgeon. He told me he operated on Neville Wran, Premier of NSW and Elton John, who could have chosen any surgeon in the world to name just two. His reputation was known worldwide and was completely justified. He was to ENT surgery what Victor Chang was to heart surgery. The world is a poorer place for his passing.

Dr Tonkin was a wonderfully talented and humble gentleman. He saved my life and my hearing on more than one occasion. He was kind and generous and over my 30years of treatment in his gifted surgical hands I grew to know him as a truly amazing man and surgeon.
I am sadden to hear of his passing and my thoughts are with dear Mary.

My condolences to all,
Did Dr John Tonkin by any chance breed or own a grey mare, born 19/11/2004?
Mother: Purple angel.
Thank you, bless you all.

Farewell to a great uncle, who sadly, I saw little of in my later years.
John showed me the way to construct a workable study plan for my years in high school. That helped ease the stress so many students still experience today.
Deepest sympathy to his family.

Dr John was the leader in his field over a long professional career. A learned but humble man he was great to talk with because he was a great listener and showed a genuine interest in others. Sadly missed. Our thoughts are with Mary.
