John Tritt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 16, 2024.
Mr. John E. (Jack) Tritt, a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and colleague, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

He was born January 12, 1937, in Shippensburg, PA, the son of the late Paul W. and Mabel E. Swartz Tritt. He married his high school sweetheart, A. Jane Kramer. They were married for 67 years at the time of his passing.

A graduate of Shippensburg Area High School, Mr. Tritt received his Bachelor of Science degree from Shippensburg State College. He obtained his Masters of Education degree from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Mr. Tritt was first employed as a teacher of business education and then progressed through several administrative positions with Frederick County Public Schools, becoming Assistant Superintendent for Business. He was then appointed Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Finance with the Maryland State Department of Education. Following a brief retirement, he then served as Associate Superintendent for Business and Finance with Baltimore County Public Schools. In 1992, after 33 years in public education, Mr. Tritt finally retired.

He served his church, Calvary United Methodist, in numerous capacities, including usher, member and chair of the church's Board of Trustees, Administrative Board, Finance Committee and Sunday School teacher.

Mr. Tritt was a Master Mason affiliated with Columbia Lodge #58 A.F. & A.M. of Frederick, a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite Temple of Baltimore, and a member of the Ali Ghan Shrine of Cumberland.

He served six years with the West Virginia Air National Guard.

Mr. Tritt loved and enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed flying and had various other hobbies such as carving ducks, playing bridge, and gardening. A great joy for him was hosting the annual Pig Roast where family and friends gathered and enjoyed great food and togetherness. He also valued his association with the men and women of The Frederick Coffee Club.

In addition to his wife, Jane, Mr. Tritt is survived by his son, James T. Tritt, and his wife, Michelle, of Westminster, MD; and his daughter, Jennifer A. Kmiecik, and husband, Daniel, of Middletown, MD. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Nicole and Ally Tritt, and John, Todd and Mae Kmiecik.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.

A celebration of Jack's life will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Frederick. Reverend Dr. Steve Larsen and Reverend Robert Manthey will officiate. Private interment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens in Chambersburg, PA.
