John Willett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 12, 2024.
With a blend of sorrow for our loss and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce that John "Johnny" Willet went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 82 years, on April 7, 2024. Johnny was born amid the stark beauty of a Maine winter on February 4, 1942, in the small town of Patten, where he was raised to value the virtues of hard work, family, and the sanctity of nature.

For decades, Johnny served with unwavering loyalty at the Sherman Lumber Company. His dedication to craftsmanship and his reputation as a man of integrity were known to all. His truest joy, however, was found spending time with his wife , Children and Grandchildren and teaching them the love of the outdoors where he loved to fish and camp. Johnny was also a masterful woodworker. These passions were a reflection of his love for Maine's rustic splendor, a legacy he passed on to all who knew him.

With the arrival of spring's thaw, Johnny was ever the guide on family expeditions to gather fiddleheads, an enduring ritual that bonded them to each other and to the cycles of the earth. These cherished moments are held dear by those who were fortunate to share in them.

Johnny's musical gifts, though offered with modesty, were the heartbeat of family celebrations, where his strumming guitar filled the air with melodies that drew them together in joy and fellowship.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly half a century, Mary, and their children: Lori Savage (Matthew), Jeffery McNally (Lynn Cloutier), Billy McNally (Crystal), Alan McNally, and Crystal Stover and his granchildren he loved so much Josh, Gage, Erin, John, Chantel, Cody, Zachary, Christopher, Dakota and Hannah many greatgranchildren. The lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the love he gave will live on in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Also feeling the absence of his steadfast presence are his sister, April Peavey (John), his sister-in-law Dale Willett, and the many nieces and nephews who found in him a figure of gentle wisdom and strength.

Preceding him to the hereafter are his parents, Virgie P. Willett and Clifford C. Willett; his sister, Aubine Fox (Bill); and his brothers, Darrell (Madeline), Delbert (June), and Leroy Willett.

A service to honor Johnny's memory will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, located at 578 Station Road, Stacyville, Maine, on the 20th of April at 11 o'clock in the morning. Following the service, those who shared in Johnny's journey are invited to a reception to continue the celebration of his remarkable life.

What a sweet man. I remember him coming to visit my dad when he was so sick. Johnny was always there checking on him as well as Leroy.

Starting with him telling everyone that I was his adopted sister whom momma picked me out of the trash bin . lol He got a great kick out of that .
Him and I singing together ever since we was very young .
His love for his mom and dad , and the love of his brothers and sisters , also the love he had for his kids .
Many memories of us going camping and having the best time with others that went with us .
I could go on and on about my love for him and he will surly be miss by me and my family .
Always on my mind and in my heart . Love ya brother ! Until we meet again , I will continue to sing and play your guitar and think of you with every song I sing .
Love you more !!! Your favorite sister .. ;-)
