John Wirgnoivcz Obituary

John R. Wirgnoivcz, 56, of Avonmore died Tuesday (Sept. 9, 2003) in Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe.

He was born Aug. 8, 1947, in New Kensington, and lived in Avonmore all of his life. An electronic instrument repairman, he worked for Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp., West Leechburg. Mr. Wirgnoivcz was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge, both in Avonmore, was past master and member of the Williamson Masonic Lodge, Coudersport Consistery, Royal Arch, Knights Templar, Hillbilly Clan No. 53, Skyview Amateur Radio Club and Apollo Elks. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Susan J. Wirgnoivcz; two daughters, Melinda S. Wirgnoivcz of Clarksburg and Kathryn M. Wirgnoivcz of Avonmore; his mother, Sophia Barbara Kochanowski Wirgnoivcz of Avonmore; a brother, Kevin S. (Dorothy) Wirgnoivcz of Punxsutawney; and a sister, Mrs. Karen (Robert) Frew of Norwalk, Calif. Also surviving are a granddaughter, Abigail M. Trkula of Avonmore; and his daughters financees', Charles Patterson of Clarksburg and Donald Trkula of Avonmore. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wirgnoivcz. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 100 Owens View Drive, Apollo, where a Parish Wake service is set for 3:30 p.m. Friday. Christian Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Avonmore, with the Rev. William Homolak officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Avonmore. A Masonic service will be at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Williamson Lodge No. 431, Saltsburg, Pa. 15681. Visit at www.curranfuneralhome.com.
