John Elliott Wright passed away at age 79 on Monday, February 5, 2024. Loving partner, stepfather & grandfather. Born to Jack and Cecilia Wright in Tucson AZ John graduated from University of Arizona with a masters in Science of Engineering. His career as a Civil Engineer took him across the globe to Nigeria & Saudi Arabia. In 1988 he moved to Florida where he met Inez and they were together for 33 years. He worked with engineering firm PBS&J in Tampa for 20 years and retired from Parsons Brinckerhoff as lead engineer on the Veterans Expressway.

John was active in his parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Ybor City, as a reader every Sunday morning. When he wasn't renovating rental properties with Inez he was racing & winning Formula V race car competitions through out the south east. He enjoyed writing stories of his youth growing up in the west and sharing his love for animals.

After retirement, He took up the hobby of rebuilding vintage Chevy corvette's & enjoyed being a member of the local Corvette Clubs.

Above all his favorite pastimes, his biggest joy was being a grandfather to his 2 grandchildren, Demi & Drew.

John is Proceeded in death by his brothers, Jack Wright Jr & Richard Wright. His love Inez Hargis & step son Michael Hargis.

John is Survived by his step daughter Lori Ossi (Danny); grandchildren Demi & Drew, nieces Tori Rountree, Joan Morris and nephew Paul Wright.

A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church 1711 E. 11th Ave, Tampa, FL 33605 on April 19, 2024 at 10:00am
