JOHN ZAK Obituary

John E. Zak, 70, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of DeKalb, Ill., passed away Dec. 10, 2009, at the Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas.
Born Jan. 7, 1939, in DeKalb, the son of Frank M. and Lila J. (Kivisto) Zak, John married Karin Minnick on Aug. 2, 1986, in Dallas.
John was a 1958 DeKalb High School graduate and a veteran of the US Army, from which he retired after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Karin; daughter, Caroline (Ronnie) Latham of Texas; two granddaughters, Leslie and Ashley; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Austin; sister, Donna Rae (Robert) Ewing of DeKalb; brother, Kent (Gail) Zak; sister-in-law, Linda Zak of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Zak; and his great-niece, Meagan Zak.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in DeKalb, with the Rev. Gary Erickson officiating. Interment has taken place at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Texas.
