Johnnie I. Huggins, of Tunnel Hill, died Monday, July 6, 2009, after a lengthy illness.She was well-known in North Georgia Democratic circles and worked tirelessly in support of Democratic candidates. Johnnie was a career woman and had worked all of her life in Dalton in the textile, hotel and financial service industries. Johnnie was well-loved by her friends and family.She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Winnie Huggins; sister, Elaine 'Tootsie' Roberts; and her brother, Larry Huggins.She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Eddie Farris of Lancaster, S.C.; nieces, Julie Rice of Atlanta and Wendy Stokes of Lancaster, S.C.; nephews, John Roberts of Cartersville and Smokey Farris of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; several cousins.Memorial services are Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home of Tunnel Hill with the Rev. Tom Phipps officiating.The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.Jones Funeral Home of Tunnel Hill is in charge of arrangements.

Johnnie and I went to school together and even though I moved away for many years whenever I saw her on visits here she was still the nice, funny girl I remembered. She will be missed. May God bless you all in this sad time.
