Johnnie Mabie Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 30, 2024.
Johnnie Joseph Mabie, known affectionately as John, passed away on July 10, 2024, at the age of 64 in Independence, Missouri. Born on May 16, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri, John spent his life dedicated to his family, his work, and his passions.

John dedicated over 20 years of his life working as a Maintenance Supervisor at Merrit Foods, where his commitment and hard work were well recognized. Beyond his professional life, John was an avid outdoorsman who cherished fishing, barbecuing, and detailing cars. His love for the outdoors was only matched by his love for his family, with whom he enjoyed spending most of his time.

John was not only a family man but also a creator and an innovator. He invented and manufactured "The Awning Cover," a testament to his ingenuity and ability to fix anything that came his way. His caring and loving nature made him a pillar in his community; he was always ready to lend a hand or offer support to anyone in need.

John leaves behind his beloved wife, Danna Mabie; son Jeramey J Mabie and stepson Shawn Mabie; and grandsons Jordan, Cole, and Luke Mabie. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and warmth. John was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Joseph Mabie and Willie Fern Waters, as well as his siblings, LeAnn "Annie" Elizabeth Mabie and Charles "Chuck" Edwards Mabie.

A Celebration of Life for John will be scheduled at a later date. Golden Gates Funeral & Cremation Services of Kansas City, Missouri, is assisting the family during this difficult time. John's life and legacy will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him, as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
