Johnnie Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 10, 2017.
Johnnie Williams Sr. was the first born of 12 children on November 8th, 1926 in Shaw, Mississippi to Allean Wilson (preceded him in death). As a teenager he and his family moved to Chicago, Illinois. Bro. Williams accepted the Lord as his Savior as a young adult and joined the 46th Street Church of God with Elder Frank Gordon as pastor. Bro. Williams enlisted in the Army in 1946 and was later honorably discharged. He was employed with Santa Fe and Penn Central Railway, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service.

Brother Williams married Pauline Johnson (who preceded him in death), in July of 1950. To this union of 53 years, five children were born: Johnny Williams Jr. (preceded him in death), Colletti Williams, Delores (Lesley) Perry, Cedric (Lisa) Williams, and Sheila (Clarence) Rodgers. In 2007, he took a new vow of marriage to Barbara Outlaw, his "Good Looking". With this union, came two children: Douglas (Lynette) Baker Sr. and Michell Render.

Those who shared and experienced the joys of life with him and survive to cherish his memories are his wife, Barbara Williams, six children, eight grandchildren, Sharon Williams, Theresa (Sean) Kent, Brandy McKinney, Erica Brown, Sydney Williams, Christian Rodgers, Douglas Baker Jr., and Jayden Rose; 13 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, seven siblings, one aunt – Frances Thurman, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Grawpa , I just want you to know that you're my bestfriend and I love you very much and it feels weird not having you here because I'm so used to talking to you or seeing you almost every single day . I'm going to miss all the fun times we had together and all of our trips to Popeyes , and everywhere else we went . I'm sad that you can't make it to my graduation but one of the last things you said to me was to "make sure you walk across that stage" and I will.. I'm going to make you proud and I hope you guide me to do the right thing for the rest of my life .. I love you to the moon and back and I know you're in a better place and I know you're not tired anymore.

I can close my eyes and still see the pew where Brother and Sister Williams sat every service at Coulter's Chapel many, many years ago. What I remember most was his dignified, quiet demeanor; he was a man of few words, so when he testified, we listened!

I know he will be missed and my thoughts and prayers are with the family and Sis. Barb. Take comfort in the knowledge that one day you will all be eternally reunited.

God bless.

JOHNNIE WILLIAMS, SR.

My Tribute:
Giving Honor to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who in this season made himself the Ultimate Sacrifice of Atonement for the Sins of the World so that Whosever Believes in Him Shall Not Parish but have Everlasting Life.
Now, I Honor Johnnie Williams, Sr. who shared his life as Husband to my Mother Barbara Jean Williams, Grandpa to my Son Jayden Markees Rose, and Dad to me Michell Denise Render. Though he was not my Biological Father he was a Dad to me at a time in my adult life where most people don't think they need raising so to speak; but the unmeasurable amount of patience, love, support, encouragement, quietly praying through my illness, rejoicing in my victories, and the sheer pleasure of seeing my mom happily married after a lifetime of waiting on the Lord is something that Johnnie Williams was to me.

I thank my Sisters Dolores and Sheila for their welcoming us into the fold of the family as well as the grandchildren who spent time with us during summer vacations enjoying the county. Some of the fondest memories that my son Jayden will always hold dear were the trips grandpa made to the Dairy Queen just the two of them, working together in the yard and getting to drive the tractor, he even let Jayden ride the tractor in the snow I guess it was just because he enjoyed seeing the twinkle in the eyes of children.
I so enjoyed celebrating our birthdays together at Hacienda my favorite Restaurant wearing twin sombreros and grinning from ear to ear; my day was November 6th and his was November 8th. I'll never forget Dad telling Mom that I won the trophy for the best pot of homemade vegetable soup, just for him I'd always make enough for an army just so they'd have leftovers to take home.

In closing I would like to say I'm so thankful for the time I had with Dad and I know that he's Walking Around Heaven All Day.

In Loving Memory,
Michell Denise Render & Jayden Markees Rose
