Jon David Devermann

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jon David Devermann, age 75, on October 13, 2023 after a courageously fought battle with Merkel cell carcinoma.

Jon was a beloved father, husband, son, brother, friend, realtor, Veteran, and Blackhawks superfan. He was born at Sherman Hospital on July 7, 1948 to Dorothy and Robert C. Devermann. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Villa Park, IL, where he also played basketball in his youth. He graduated from Willowbrook High School in Villa Park in 1966.

In 1967, Jon joined the United States Navy. He was a dedicated patriot and Vietnam War Veteran who proudly served our country for six years as a Gunner's Mate M Second Class in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, Jon traveled the world, most notably when he was stationed at the Navy base in Sasebo, Japan.

Jon's pride and joy was his family. He was blessed with three wonderful daughters through his marriage to Susan (Sue) Burns, though they would later travel down different paths. Jon's path eventually led him to his current wife, Sandra, and her two children, who grew to consider him a father. He looked forward to big holiday celebrations as a blended family where he could enjoy the love and laughter that surrounded him.

Jon sought out a career in real estate, which he pursued with unparalleled enthusiasm for over 30 years. He considered his Century 21 Lullo colleagues as his second family, sharing countless laughs and memories over the past 3 decades. Jon carried himself with the utmost integrity and instilled trust in his team and clients. His diligence and attention to detail was often met with loving annoyance from his colleagues.

Jon's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family and the Chicago Blackhawks. Jon was a dedicated lifelong hockey fan and season ticket holder; if he wasn't at the game, you could find him in his favorite recliner, cheering loudly in front of the TV!

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandra (Schoeller) and his children, Heather (Mark) Faulhaber, Amy (Chris) Drobnik, Tiffany (Brandon) Bensing, and Alissa (Michael) Sillin, and nine grandchildren, Drew, Cali, Kyle, Dylan, Justin, Savannah, Emily, Ashley, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Robert, and his stepson Matthew. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 22 at 1:00pm at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 40W451 Fox Mill Blvd, St. Charles, IL.
