He was an accomplished gymnast---- side horse, I believe. Somewhere he got the nickname "Spider". I remember him as a football manager, giving out salt pills and bandages.

Just a quick thinking of you. So fortunate to have known the Devermann´s since I was a kid. Even took one to Homecoming a lifetime ago. Jon was always one whose energy lit up the room. From church functions to backyard BBQs he was the star of the show. So sorry to hear about the loss. Hugs and love to all things Devermann´s.

Jon wrote a hysterical poem for my 40th Birthday., and my college graduation. He had props ( a bit risqué ) and a lot of enthusiasm to get the crowd join in. As with his life , Jon was successful.

Dear Devermann Family, I send to you my heart-felt condolence at the death of Jon. Thank you for informing me of his passing. I want all of you to know the Devermann family stood out prominently for me during the years I was a member at Trinity, Villa Park. Each of you, whether older or younger than I, and especially you, my classmate, Richard, always stood high in my measure of respect. I felt blessed by each of you. Surely, Jon added much to the family heritage that continues to build around all of you. Delight in the memories and bonds of love you treasured with Jon and in which you continue to grow with each other. May you know the all-surpassing peace of Jesus, the healing confidence of faith you confessed with Jon and now continue to share with each other. Blessings to each of you in Christ.

Sorry to hear of Jon's passing. Fond memories and fun in the 1980's having dinners with Jon before going to the old Chicago stadium to cheer on the not so good Blackhawks in the 'rowdy' section of the upper deck. Rest in peace Jon.

I loved the times we spent at the Chicago Stadium, talking hockey and especially going to the preseason Blackhawk luncheons where we met so many great players. I also knew to never sit in front of Uncle Jon at any sporting event. He would cheer (or yell at the refs) at 3 digit decibels.

Jon was one of the most honestly kind person one could know. He was of great help to me in our younger days, not an angry bone in his body. Truly a nice man whose company I have missed but whose memory I shall keep.

Spent many summers with John and his family in Villa Park. Remember that Uncle Bob due to his business contacts would obtain the new model cars before they were officially released. Seeing the new cars before they were out was great. Spent many good days playing with Jon and his brothers. Cousin Jim Friedrichs
