Jon Kaplan Obituary
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sharon; their sons, Ryder, Reiss, and Riley; as well as his sons Joseph (Natalie) and Brian; his granddaughter, Mila; his previous wife, Toniann; his mothers-in-law, Audrey and Marilynn; brothers-in-law, Larry and Scott; nephews, Larry and Zach; and several family friends.
Jon was predeceased by his parents, Irving and Helen; his sister, Jane; his father-in-law, Larry; his niece, Sydney; and many dear family friends.
Born on August 20, 1956, in Queens, NY, Jon was raised in Stamford, CT. He spent over 30 years in Fort Lauderdale, FL, later living in Fort Mill, SC, and Wilmington, NC, before returning to Florida to settle in Punta Gorda.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Jon excelled as a pitcher and goalie at Westhill High School. His passion for the game continued as he umpired for Punta Gorda Youth Baseball and Softball and cheered on his sons in football and baseball.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Tidewell Hospice of Port Charlotte for their compassionate care.

I worked with Jon only for a few months back when we both worked at AMC Liquidators. We liquidated high end hotels and Jon was one of the hardest working men I ever had the privilege of working next to. Aside from his good work ethic, Jon was a good man who loved his family and loved the Lord. I look forward to the day when I can see my friend again, wrap my arms around him and give him a big bear hug.
My most sincere condolences to his wife and kids, whom I met only once when we swung by to grab something for work. My heart and prayers go out to you. May the Lord bless you and provide for you always.

Sharon and boys. I was fortunate enough t know Jon as a student at Westhill High School. Spent many good times together loved watching him play baseball and a great hockey player, was taken much to soon. Please know he was very special to me and I will always remember him. I wll continue to pray for you and the boys. Love To All Joyce
