Jon Nordby passes away at his Maui home after a long battle with cancer.

Jon grew up in Seattle, attended Ballard High School, the University of Washington where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, and Stanford's Graduate School Of Business. After graduating from the U.W. Jon married Marilyn Marschante and with her was a Peace Corps Vounteer in Ethiopa teaching at the haile Sallasie University Business School in Addis Ababa.

He had a long business career as a real estate developer, first managing resort projects in Jamaica and Brazil and developing high-rise buildings in Seattle, Bellvue and Portland as a partner with Wright Runstad & Company, retiring as President in 2001.

An accomplished athlete, Jon started his competitive life swimming for the Seattle YMCA as a nine year old. He was an all-city of Seattle football player at Ballard High, the city champion in the high hurdles as well as a high hurdler for the U.W track team. After retiring Jon swam in open ocean races on Maui and as a skilled tennis player, competed in many local tennis tournaments.

After retiring, he also played and recorded jazz piano C.D's.and made and sold over 300 artistic lamps fabricated at his home from tropical wood and art pieces collected on his many trips worldwide.

Jon is survived and missed by his wonderful wife of 52 years, two sons Jeff and Greg Nordby and wives Jessica and Jill, grandchildren Kellen, Kate. Kolten and Jasper, twin brother Mike Nordby and sister Lynn Benton.

A celebration of Jon's life will be held at the Seattle Yacht Club, Wednesday April 13 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
