Jonathan Bechtel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 10, 2024.
Jonathan Neil Bechtel, affectionately known as Bubba, #1 Son, or Jon, passed away on June 20, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 43. Born on May 26, 1981, in Dallas, Texas, he was a cherished member of his family and community.

Jonathan graduated from Midland High School in 1999 and continued his education at Mt. Zion School of Ministry. He began a fulfilling career as a jewelry salesman at Occasions Jewelers in Midland, Texas, in 2013, where he was known for his professionalism and warm demeanor.

He had a profound love for travel, with New York City being his favorite destination, though he explored many other places. Jonathan's ability to make each member of his large, extended family feel uniquely special won him the affection of many, earning him a respected place in the hearts of friends both old and new.

Jonathan is survived by his fiancée, Erika Braden of Midland, Texas; his parents, Erich and Kathy Bechtel, also from Midland; his sister and brother-in-law, Jayme and Dustin Woolam, and his adored niece and nephew, Calista and Ian Woolam, all of Waco, Texas. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arch and Royce Black of San Angelo, Texas, and Opal and Neil Bechtel of Wills Point, Texas.

A Celebration of Life service with an open mic will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Sovereign Grace Church in Midland, Texas, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and legacy.

My deepest condolences to Jonathan´s family...He was one of the best people I´ve ever known. When he spoke you listened, because he didn´t speak just to say things. He was fair and honest. He treated people with respect even if he didn´t agree with them and had a natural ability to make you feel seen and heard. I enjoyed every conversation I had with him. He was truly unique. I wish I was able to be there for his service...he impacted more lives than he knew.

Jonathan loved to travel. The time we spent together was full of roadtrips, concert tickets, MLB games , and compact plane seats. We were able to visit NYC, Hawaii, Boston, Salem, Dallas, Albuquerque, we even drove to Wisconsin and back. We had the greatest adventures together. I wouldn´t trade those memories for anything!! Thank you Jonathan. Rest easy.
