Jonathan Harman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 2, 2023.
Jonathan Michael Harman, 42, lived in Encino, California, with his wife and love of his life Lisa, who were together for 18 years. He was the oldest of four brothers all raised in Los Angeles. In high school, he was fiercely intelligent and kept excellent grades while becoming a California CIF state champion in water polo. His teamwork and leadership abilities were extraordinary so he became the team's coach upon his own coach's request while studying at Cal State University Long Beach. He went on to take great pride in his work within the construction industry, employed for 25 years by the same family-owned company out of Altadena, ultimately managing the firm's operations after his years in the field. His coworkers knew him as an innovative, intuitive, caring, and tech-savvy supervisor with a big heart.

Most importantly, he was a devoted partner and husband to Lisa. They enjoyed a full and wonderful life and explored the world through family, friends, travel, food, movies, and their favorite places including England, France, Canada, and Australia.

He was also a dedicated brother, son, nephew, and uncle and valued family time above all. Many people saw him as a father figure in their lives. With an affinity for technology and a mind for engineering, he was a passionate builder, whether that was on sites with his crews, using his 3D printers, building Lego sets with his nephews, or completing home improvement projects for himself and others.

Jonathan was known for being a kind, humble, compassionate man that helped everyone around him. He was a big and strong guy who always showed up for everyone and came to you with a big bear hug. His great laugh was heard often because of his lightness in life and fun sense of humor. You wouldn't see him doing anything without a smile. He never complained and could always enjoy the little things, a quiet evening at home, a glass of nice bourbon, and the nights out around town.

On July 27, 2023, Jonathan was suddenly killed by a reckless driver who crashed into his car on his way home from work on the 210 freeway through La Crescenta. He leaves behind his wife, 3 brothers, mother, and other family members but his honorable and optimistic way of life will live on through them.

Jonathan is survived by his wife Lisa, his mother Linda Harman, his brother and sister-in-law Brian and Cristina Harman, CA, nephew Bennett; brother Mark Taglianetti, niece Emma, nephew Michael, nephew Cole, niece Madison; brother Sean Harman and sister-in-law Laurie Speaks and brother-in-law Robert Speaks, nephew Derek (deceased), nephew Evan, nephew Elijah, niece Charlotte, and great nephew Landon.

Jonathan was loved by so many and our family is absolutely devastated by this loss. Jonathan valued family above everything and was passionate and kind. He stood up for what he believed in. He was honest to a fault. He had a great sense of humor and was an amazing Uncle to my 4 children and my grandson.

He was extremely thoughtful and generous and really knew how to live life.

I´m so thankful to have been part of Jonathan's life. His memory will live on with our family and his nieces and nephews.

I just learned of Jonathan's passing today and I am deeply saddened. I don't know if his family will ever read this but I want to say I am so sorry for your loss. I have talked to Jonathan every month or two for work reasons for the last decade and more. He was always such an easy guy to talk to and work with. Always super polite and kind... I will miss him. Rest in peace.
