Jonathan "Jon" Zwicky Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 4 to Oct. 12, 2023.
Jonathan "Jon" Mark Zwicky, 59 of Viola Wisconsin, formerly of Merrill and Ashland WI, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Jon was born on January 26, 1964, to Jack Zwicky and Joan Mulhollon. He graduated from Merrill Sr. High School in 1982 where he met the love of his life Patience "Pati" Zwicky. They were united in Marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church Merrill on August 2, 1986. They were blessed with three children.

In high school Jon was a member of Merrill Marching Jay's and Jazz band where he played the Tenor Sax. He also enjoyed playing the bass guitar in his garage band "Dog's Breakfast Blues." Jon was an avid vehicle enthusiast and loved working on anything with a motor. He was a member of the Street Machine's Unlimited car club in the 1980's, proudly displaying his 1971 Mach 1 Mustang whenever possible. He and Pati owned and operated Jon's Cruiz Inn Tavern in Merrill in the mid 80's where many great memories were made. He enjoyed four wheeling, snowmobiling, and collecting hot wheels. One of his favorite past times was watching the ships come into the harbor on Lake Superior near his home in Ashland. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. His face lit up when they were near. Jon's family will remember him as a kind and patient person who enjoyed making others smile.

Jon is survived by his sons: Josh (Rachel) Zwicky Iron River, WI, Travis (Errika) Zwicky, Clara City, MN, and Cameron Zwicky Beloit, WI; grandchildren: Evan Zwicky, Vallerie Zwicky, Oliver Zwicky, and Sullivan Zwicky; sister Julie Zwicky; sister-in-law, Julie (Bruce) Weber; nephew Chris Weber; and nieces Kaylyn Weber and Rachel (Andy) Yach.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pati Zwicky; Mother Joan Mulhollon; Father Jack Zwicky; parents in-law Emil and Carol Rosenau. A Celebration of Life for Jon will be held on October 15th, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. at the Cosmo Hall, 805 E Main Street, Merrill, WI. Roth Family Cremation Center Viroqua WI is assisting the family.
