Jonnie Pomeroy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 31, 2024.
Jonnie Lee Pomeroy, age 76, of Bellingham, Washington, passed away suddenly at home on May 22, 2024. She is survived by her daughter Jolyne Lujan, son-in-law David Lujan, granddaughter Emmy Lujan, sisters Nellie Johnson and Elizabeth Schoppert, as well as brothers Wayne Quinn and Ken Quinn. Jonnie was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Pomeroy, parents Eleanor and James Quinn, brother Jay Quinn, and sister Gail Sewell.

After graduating from Bellingham High School, Jonnie worked as a clerk at the courthouse. She married Jerry in 1971 and they lived for nearly 40 years in the house that he built for their family. Together, along with the rest of her family, they enjoyed fishing and camping along the Nooksack River. Inspired by Jerry's love for woodworking, Jonnie taught herself to paint detailed holiday decorations and toys that they sold at craft fairs for many years. After Jerry's death in 2018, Jonnie moved to a 55+ community in Ferndale where she became good friends with her neighbors and enjoyed hosting weekly gatherings and trying out new recipes. Always a generous hostess, Jonnie was quick to offer a cup of coffee and a baked treat to everyone that stepped into her home. She passed on her love of reading, crafting, card games, and puzzles to both her daughter and granddaughter. Jonnie's creative spirit and passion for games brought joy to those around her.

An informal gathering to honor Jonnie's life will be held at the Portal Creek Park Clubhouse, 6350 Portal Way, Ferndale, WA 98248, on June 23rd from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

May she be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and love for her family.

Aunt Jonnie, I remember a Christmas at your house when Jolyne and I received matching red pajamas before that was a trendy thing. I remember riding ponies and wandering the forest of your property and playing with cats and dogs. There was the dam trip we took which we thought was HILARIOUS. We drove for hours and played car games and visited apple orchards, Leavenworth shops, the rainforest, wineries (we had grape juice), breweries (apple juice and the HAMM bear) and cheap hotels. And soooo many more.
