Jordan Andersen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 27, 2023.
Jordan Marshall Andersen passed away on December 19, 2023, at the age of 53 in Sandy, Utah. She was born on September 27, 1970, in Connecticut to the late Donald R. Marshall and Jean Kay Stockseth.

Jordan valued education and graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Humanities. She further pursued her academic endeavors and earned a Master's degree in Curriculum Development from Oklahoma State University. Jordan's passion for education led her to teach High School Spanish, where she made a significant impact on her students' lives.

Jordan was a compassionate soul and loved to help others. She founded a non-profit scholarship program to support recovering addicts and alcoholics, providing them with opportunities for sober living. She worked in recovery offering guidance and support to those in detox and helping establish a detox facility.

Jordan had a vibrant and colorful personality that was reflected in her fashion choices. She had an exceptional eye for vintage clothing and decor, always finding treasures in thrift shops. Her unique style was a reflection of her artistic nature and creativity.

Jordan carried the brain disease of alcoholism which contributed to her untimely passing. We are not ashamed of this malady but proud of her actions because of and in spite of it. She never let her struggles define her. Jordan was loved my many in recovery for her service work and insightful perspective.

Jordan will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children Max, Lucy, Cleo, and Holmes. Her dedication and love for her family were unwavering.

A celebration of Jordan's life will be held on Wednesday, December 27th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at 10885 South Pampas Drive, 831 East, Sandy, UT 84094. I can not articulate the kind of soul connection I shared with Jordan. It was sweet, vulnerable, deep and undeniably hilarious (the darkest, most delicious kind of humor). She was dear to me in the years we shared as young adults after high school. She shared many of the qualities I knew so well in my own mother (brilliant, creative, sensitive & hilarious). I am sad beyond description to know the world has lost another beautiful mind whose light shone so bright and burned out too soon.
