LOWELL - Jose Manuel Tavares, age 63, a resident of Lowell died unexpected on Friday, January 10, 2020. He was born in St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal on June 28, 1956, and was a son of Maria Estefania Tavares of Lowell and late Manuel Jacinto Tavares. Jose loved music and was a talented trumpet player, which he played in four different Portuguese bands. He is survived by two sons, Michael Tavares of Pittsburg, PA and Jason Tavares of North Huntingdon, PA; five grandchildren, Landon Tavares, Liam Tavares, Ethan Tavares, Caleb Tavares, Chloe Tavares and Kaden Tavares; four brothers, Paulo J. Tavares and his wife Cidalia, Joao F. Tavares and his wife M. Lucia, Carlos F. Tavares and his wife Lubelia, and Pedro M. Tavares and his wife Yessenia, all of Lowell; his sister M. Grace Nicolau and her companion Walter Silva of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Billy Tavares. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jose Life Celebration at the MCKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell on Tuesday, January, 21st from 10:00 until 11:00 AM followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12 Noon at St. Anthony Church in Lowell. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury.
