JOSE MARIA, MD
On August 6, 2003 after a brief illness. Born November 22, 1924 in Buenos Aries, Argentina. He emigrated to the United States in 1954. Husband of Freda Vilanova, who died in November 1996. Loving father of Patricia Vilanova Harris and Barbara Vilanova Lockyer; adoring grandfather of Nicholas and Phebe Lockyer and Katherine and Mora Harris; father-in-law of Joseph D. Harris and Richard Lockyer. Dr. Jose Vilanova was a practicing physician for over 50 years in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He was a distinguished psychiatrist and served as the Medical Director of the New Jersey Department of Determination. He was a member of the American Academy of Neurology and of the American Psychiatric Association. He retired and relocated to Pittsburgh in 1992 to be close to the family he loved so much. In the last five years, Dr. Vilanova was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Children's Institute in Sq. Hill. The family kindly requests, in lieu of flowers, that friends consider a donation to the Children's Institute, 6301 Northumberland St., Pgh., PA 15217. A service will be held Sat., 2 pm in Homewood Cemetery chapel. Arrangements by WILLIAM F. GROSS FUNERAL HOME, LTD.
