Joseph Barbara Obituary

Joseph A. Barbara Jr., 47, of Clarks Summit, died Thursday morning at the Hampton House, Hanover Twp., after a tragic brain injury.

Born Nov. 11, 1963, in Norfolk, Va., he was the son of Joseph A. and Ann (Orazi) Barbara Sr. of Clarks Summit. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Norfolk, and had served in the Army for six years. For the past 10 years, he was a self-employed painting contractor. Joey was taught to fish by his great-grandfather and was an avid fisherman.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him. Joey had a big heart and a sweet soul.

Ann and Joe would like to thank the CMC Trauma Unit, John Heinz Rehab and the Hampton House for the extraordinary care of their son.

He is also survived by a son, Joseph Barbara and wife, Chelsea, Asheville, N.C.; a granddaughter, Marley Barbara; a sister, Sherry Dean, Clarks Summit; a brother, Terry Pierce Dean, Kingsport, Tenn.; paternal grandmother, Betty Barbara, Sonoma, Calif.; two aunts, Margaret McIntosh, Scranton; and Marian Ramariz, Sonoma, Calif.; and a niece, Victoria Gullone. He was also preceded in death by a son, Joshua Barbara; maternal grandparents, Gus and Fran Orazi; and an uncle, Dante Orazi III.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Carbondale.
