Joseph Chell Obituary
(1931 - 2023)
Joe was a lifelong bachelor. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Helen Chell, in 1999, and by his brother, Richard, in 2017. Joe taught mathematics at U.B.C. (graduate assistantship), Enderby, Burnaby, Haney, Victoria, and at a Canadian NATO base in West Germany. He held an M.Ed. degree. Joe liked travelling in the U.S.A., Canada, Europe, and the Far East.
At Joe's request, there will be no service.

Mr. Chell was my math teacher over my 3 years at Vic High '73-'76. He really made math fun, and was so very willing to teach me more than the class required. I truly loved being in his classes!! Condolences to his family

Joe is my cousin and while I had not seen him since 1995, memories which bring a smile are of the long ago days on the farm in Mission. My condolences to the Chell families.

Mr Chell was my home room teacher at Vic High in 1976. I remember him well. He was a very patient teacher with a dry sense of humour. Sorry to hear of his passing.

I had Mr. Chell for Math at Vic High in either the 1979 or 1980 school year. He was obviously passionate about Math and shared his knowledge in an engaging way. I enjoyed his class!

My Grade 9 Math teacher in 4 Wing (Baden, Germany) in 1969. Loved his laid back manner and remember apples and oranges. RIP Mr. Chell.

Mr. Chell was also the sponsor of the chess club at Vic High when I played there, and we played hundreds of games. He was a kind gentleman with a sense of humour so dry you could die of thirst when he told a long joke.

Mr. Chell was the best math teacher I ever had apart from my Mum. Altho I had not seen him since 1968, I thought of him often especially when I used the words hint, tip and clue :-) You had to have been there...
