My uncle Joe was so much more to me than an uncle. We were 11 years apart and he was at times more like a big brother and a friend. I always knew I could count on him for anything. He was generous and funny and his laugh was contagious.
He taught me to drive a stick on his Fiat, before I even had a learners permit, and then on his much loved BMW.
The Joe I remember loved Italian food, fast cars, movies, making people laugh and Jones Beach.
He loved his children Tom and Caroline and enjoyed talking about them when we would visit with him.
I will never forget him.

My Uncle Joe was very dear to me. He taught me how to play baseball and in particular 3rd base, his favorite position. He took me to my first professional hockey game at Madison Square Garden. He also took me camping and many times to Jones Beach. Uncle Joe loved his sports cars and when I was 13 he taught me how to drive a "stick shift 4-speed". Sleep well my dear Uncle, I will miss you!
