Joseph DeMicco Obituary

Joseph M. DeMicco, 86, of Plainville, died April 22, 2008, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Lorraine (Kozlowski) DeMicco for 53 years.
He was born March 19, 1922, in Bronx, N.Y., son of the late Donato and Genowefa (Angelino) DeMicco. A longtime Plainville resident, he was employed at Landers, Frary & Clark for approximately 20 years, served as shop steward and became president of Local Union 207. He also worked at Andrews Furniture Store, was the owner of Middle Street Package Store in Bristol for a number of years and worked for McCallum Motors before retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, AARP National and Local 4146 and Plainville Senior Citizens Center. He was also a member of the Battle of the Bulge National Organization and the local chapter based out of Meriden, the American Legion Post 0200, and VFW Post 574, Golden Acorn Division of the 87th Infantry Division, with which he proudly served as a machine gunner during World War II in the Rhineland, Central Europe and the Black Forest during the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest. He was also in the Civilian Conservation Corps while in his teens, working in Montana and California.
Along with his wife, Lorraine DeMicco, of Plainville, he leaves his children, Henrietta Sabel and her husband, Michael, and their children, Samantha and Victoria, of Plainville, Joann DeMicco, of Plainville, and Genaro DeMicco and his wife, Elizabeth, and their children, Alexa, Julianna and Jenna, of Harwinton; his son, Daniel DeMicco and his family, of Arizona; and daughter, Annette DeMicco, of New York; several cousins and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dominick, Gennaro, Anthony, Tobias, John all of New York, Dominick, of Florida; and a sister, Margaret (DeMicco) Conforti), of Florida.
The funeral was held April 26 at Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville, with a Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Plainville. Burial with military honors followed in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Greater Bristol Visiting Nurse Association Inc., 195 Maltby St., Bristol, CT 06010.
