Joseph B. Dix

Joseph Bruce Dix, 32, of Oxford, N.C., formerly of White, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 19, 2014, in North Carolina. He was born Feb. 25, 1982, in Charleston, W.Va. As Joey grew up near Indian Head, he was a precocious and playful boy. Back then he enjoyed riding bikes with his friends, both motorcycles and BMX bikes. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father. As he got older he found new passions, adding to his love of bikes, he discovered a love of cars and snowboards, along with sketching, yo-yos, and juggling that remained with him. He grew up surrounded by a close, loving family. A beloved son to Stacy and Carrie Holley Dix, of White, a little brother to Scotty and a big brother to Lauren, and a great-grandson of the late Isabelle Gagliano. He was especially close to his mother and great-grandmother. He attended the Indian Head Church of God throughout his life, graduated from Connellsville High School in 2000, and was employed as an auto body technician. On Valentine's Day 2011, he met and fell in love with Nikki Augustine, and settled down in Blawnox. Engaged soon after, Joey and Nikki were inseparable as they started down a new and exciting path together. They shared a beautiful love and friendship. In addition to his fiancee, parents and siblings, Joey is survived by his daughter, Kaitlyn Nicole Dix; his sister-in-law, Christina Farrell; his nephew, Ethan Dix; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Donna Holley; his paternal grandparent, Harold Dix; along with numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his great-grandmother, Joey was predeceased by his grandmother, Evelyn Dix; and his uncle, Richard Holley II. His spirit, talents and the hope that he inspired in us during his last years will be remembered and celebrated. We always knew you could do it Jo-Jo. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Road, Melcroft, (724-455-2310), where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Dennis Arndt officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Champion.
