Joseph Ferranto Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 19, 2025.
Joseph "Joe" Ferranto, 72, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Joe was a loving father, brother, and friend whose warmth and humor touched all who knew him.

Joe was preceded in death by his father Joseph, mother Edith, and brother Louie. He is survived by his son Michael Ferranto (Khalen) and two daughters, Vanessa Ferranto (Michael) and Alysse Nnamani (Mauris); brothers Anthony Ferranto (Donna) and John Ferranto (Anna); sisters Linda Bunnicelli (Vincent) and Judy Fogelstrom; His loving longtime partner, Edie Novak; 7 grandchildren: Oliver, Isla, Emeka, Luca, Obieze, Amaia, and Ezeudo, and many nieces and nephews.

Joe spent his youth playing at Coney Island, which became his favorite playground. He attended Tottenville High School and later graduated from La Roche College.

Joe had a successful career in the computer industry, working at Tandem, Compaq, and Hewlett Packard long before technology became commonplace in our daily lives. His forward-thinking approach and technical expertise were hallmarks of his professional life.

In his leisure time, Joe pursued many passions. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed crabbing during his cherished annual trips to the Outer Banks with close family friends. Joe had a lifelong love of music, particularly the works of Billy Joel and Jim Croce, and would often treat friends and family to impromptu singing performances.

After retirement, Joe fulfilled his dream of exploring the country in his RV, discovering new places and making friends wherever he traveled. Yearly trips to the Caribbean. He particularly enjoyed visits to casinos, where he could be found happily playing Keno at the Mountaineer Casino ( "The Track") or in Atlantic City. At home, Joe took pleasure in simple joys like building the perfect fire and telling stories that would leave everyone laughing. He had a special bond with his dogs, who were faithful companions throughout his life.

The family will be holding a private memorial service on July 19, 2025. Please contact his children for more information.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to t2t.org.

Joe's zest for life and genuine warmth will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
