Joseph was fearless, smart, very kind, humble, strong minded, determined, very loveable, and had a heart of gold. Joseph was an outstanding athlete! Joseph loved powerlifting so much he fought through the recovery of his surgery his senior year to his left knee which included a torn ACL, meniscus, and patella in order to compete in the regional powerlifting championship. The doctors told Joseph he would not be able to return in 5 months for powerlifting season. Joseph refused to give up on his senior year, and loved to make the impossible possible. After a brutal rehab, Joseph came back stronger than ever. In one meet he qualified for regionals and at regionals he was only 15 lbs. away from going to state.
Joseph graduated from St. John Paul II High School in Corpus Christi on May 22, 2021. Joseph was accepted to Texas A&M Kingsville, and was supposed to begin classes as an engineering major on August 19, 2021.
Joseph is preceded in death by his grandmother, Pamela Fillmore Brown; his aunt, Antwoinette Hester; and his uncle, Joseph Kendrick Fillmore. Joseph is survived by his mother, Ruby Olivarez; his father, Stephen Fillmore (Yvette); brothers, Dashawn and Devin; and sisters, Kayla, Ashianna, and Khalessi.
