Joseph H. Florkowski

Joseph H. Florkowski, of Harleysville and a former longtime resident of East Norriton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 26, 2022. He was 87 years old. Born September 27, 1934 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Genevieve H. (nee Gawronski) Florkowski, and the beloved husband of Kathleen C. (nee Moore) Florkowski, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. A graduate of St. Joseph's University, Joe pursued a career in the banking industry. First as a teller at First Pennsylvania Bank, he advanced his career over 40 years to ultimately retire as their VP of Marketing. It was common for Joe to tell his kids "All I want is for you to do better than I did.", and he meant it. He was a passionate golfer, who loved the game, the competition, and his incredible life-long friendships with his "golfing buddies", …but yeah, he always liked to win! Joe loved to travel in the US and internationally. He had an ever-present joy to experience new adventures, especially with his dearly loved wife, Kay. They had a love story like no other. She was the light of his world. Joe never took anything too seriously, except for the protection and well-being of his immediate and extended family. Joe's family was what he cared about the most and was evident in the definite glow on his face when surrounded by his grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife Kathleen, Joe is survived by his four children: Kathy Ciccanti (David), Debbie Gambone (Salvatore), Carol Kelly (Kevin) and Joe (Haifa), 11 grandchildren: Stacy, Jeffrey, Andrew, Lindsay, Thomas, Ryan, Megan, Brendan, Jack, Henry and Genevieve, 6 great grandchildren: RJ, Lucas, Addison, Dominic, Charlie and Leo. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Pietras. Relatives and friends are invited to share in Joe's Life Celebration on Thursday, February 3, from 9:30 AM to 10:50 AM at Visitation BVM Church, 190 North Trooper Rd., Norristown. His Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Family services are by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 610-277-7000.
