Joseph FLYNN Obituary
Joseph passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the age of 86 years. He will be greatly missed by his wife of fifty-three years, Margaret; his children, Elizabeth (Bradford), Peter (Barbara), Helen (Kevin), David (Cynthia); and his grandchildren, Liam, Olivia, Julianna, Elyse, Aiko and Yukiko. The second youngest of eight children, born to Sarah McGough (1889 – 1978) and John Flynn (1885 – 1974) in Ponteix, SK. Joseph was predeceased by his siblings, John, Charles, Mary Catherine, James Lawrence, Edward and George. He is survived by his youngest sister Patricia McGrath and his many nieces and nephews. A man of principle and intelligence, Joseph raised his family with love, kindness and humour. Married to his best friend and adventurer, Margaret, they toured the world together hand-in-hand. As a member of the Saskatchewan Provincial Court from 1960 to 2002, his confidence, principles and intelligence allowed him to succeed in a chosen profession for which he cared deeply. His family will remember him with love as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 3239 Garnet Street, Regina on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sathiadas Anthony celebrant. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Joseph's memory, to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 8th Street East, Saskatoon, SK, S7H 0S5 or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and care givers of Regina General Hospital 6F, who provided such excellent care. To Margaret and Family -
I came to know Joe way back in University years. It is interesting that we both ended up in the Provincial Court. We never presided in the same center, so we usually saw and enjoyed each other at many Judges' meetings over the years. Bev and I recall the time Joe and Margaret generously hosted us to the Moose Jaw Air show. I remember Joe as a fearless, firm, and fair Judge. I think he would have been satisfied with that assessment.
