Joseph August Gigler

90 years of age and longtime resident of Fullerton, passed away peacefully late Sunday evening July 1, 2018 in The Lehigh Valley Hospice, Allentown surrounded by his family. Born in Allentown to the late Frank and Anna (Lebezeit) Gigler, he was the husband of Nancy Ann (Shada) Gigler for 54 years at the time of her passing in 2013. Joe was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Whitehall, and was a former Eucharistic Minister. He was employed as a Section Manager for the former Western Electric Company for 40 years, retiring in 1988. Earlier in life Joe served during the Korean Conflict as a US Army Corporal, stationed in Germany. He enjoyed golfing with friends, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, particularly the yearly family vacation in Sea Isle City. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen wife of Jack Silva; sons Michael and wife Priscilla, James and wife Dana, Christopher and wife Christina; grandchildren Steven, Claire, Kevin, Katie, Anthony, Andrew and Jack; sister Helen Grieff and her husband Joseph; along with a large extended family; grand dogs Cali and Bella; predeceased by siblings Adolph, Frank and William Gigler, Emma Stopay , Anna Gigler and Margaret Woodring. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Fr. Patrick H. Lamb at 10:00 am on Saturday July 7, 2018 in Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave, Whitehall, PA 18052. Visitations with his family will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday and 8:30 am to 9:30 am Saturday BOTH in the Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Blvd, Whitehall, PA 18052, located 1 block south of the Fullerton Ave exit of Route 22, and directly across from the Church. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Upper Macungie Twp. Memorial contributions honoring Joe may be presented to Lehigh Valley Hospice PO Box 4000 Development Office, Allentown, PA 18105 or to Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church at the address listed above.
