To my great brother who donated, helped, watched out for, served, and and protected. I thought about trying to drive to Florida to see him but never did. Big mistake. HE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY..

He is & was a vibrant caring soul with a big heart, smile, and welcoming hugs. His bright humor,
enthusiasm, and pride for his family and reunions was remarkable. Cheers to a proud Marine and good friend who opened his heart and toasted Semper Fi to his cousin, my dad´s memorial dinner - A grateful proud moment I´ll never forget. When at times Joey would sense someone´s need for encouragement, he would simply speak a sentence or two in his special, positive impactful way. He had a way to make you feel important and loved. Blessed be Joey! I pray for your everlasting life with your heavenly family and know the joys of you will be remembered always. You made us extra proud along with your family to be a Gschwind & a Kornely!! Love you CousinKathie Gschwind, Walsh

It seems to be so many. So many years ago. I took my mom, his Aunt Maxine, along with my daughter, Anna, down to Chicago for her brothers funeral. It was time to go back to the hotel. Joe asked my mom, would you like a ride in my convertible. Her eyes lit up and she said sure and asked, can we also get an ice cream? With a mighty chuckle and laugh, he said of course.
My dear, wonderful cousin. You are missed already. I was looking forward to our time together in just a couple weeks. I guess that will have to wait until we meet again.

I´ll always remember from grade school years through high school years. You were my friend that lived across the street from me. When you went into the Marines and came home on leave, we continued our friendship. I surely will miss you.
