Larry Daniel Obituary
Larry Russell Daniel Sr., 67, of Wilson died Wednesday. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Joyner's Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex. The Rev. Ray Barnhill will officiate.
Mr. Daniel was born in Nash County July 3, 1940. He lived in Middlesex and attended Middlesex School grades one thru 12, received a BS degree from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, a Masters Degree in School Administration and a Masters Degree in Physical Education from the College of William and Mary.
Larry was active in the Town Administration of Middlesex and was a past Commissioner and Mayor.
He was a teacher and coach in Wilmington schools and West Point, VA, mainly as coach of high school sports. Larry was recognized as an active and accomplished athlete.
After retirement from education he started his insurance business and was active until his passing.
Mr. Daniel is survived by a daughter, Wendy Woodward Daniel of Richmond, VA; a son, Larry Russell Daniel Jr. of Muskegon, MI; a sister, Susan Janette Daniel Newcomb and husband, Hugo of Ridgeland, MS; a brother, John David Daniel Jr. and wife, Barbara of Leland; five grandchildren; his loving and devoted friend, Kay Jeffries of Wilson.
The family will receive friends 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and at other times at 5508 Hornes Church Road.

Please accept our sympathy at this sad time. Larry was a wonderful neighbor. We will miss him terribly, expecially his great sense of humor. Please know that we consider ourselves blessed to have know him, even for a short time.
