Joseph Gutierrez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 23, 2013.
Joseph Isobel Gutierrez, 86, of Greeley, entered into eternal rest Friday, September 20, 2013 at North Colorado Medical Center. He was born on November 19, 1926 in Pueblo to Emiliano and Guadalupe (Hernandez) Gutierrez.

On January 2, 1953, Joe married Mary Ayala in Pueblo. They moved to Greeley in 1960 and Joe began his career as a butcher with Monfort Feedlots. Joe retired from Monfort in the mid 1980's.

Joe was a very loving, caring and family oriented man. Joe's greatest passion was his family. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and remained involved in their activities. Joe had a very special relationship with his granddaughter, Lauren Hernandez. Joe spent time working on his automobiles. In his younger years he enjoyed traveling and camping with his wife and children.

He is survived by his children, Tony Baros (Joyce) of Pueblo, Pat Gutierrez (Jack Garcia) and Chuck Gutierrez all of Greeley; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Tom Gutierrez, one brother and three sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 Friday, September 27, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greeley. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.

It was our great honor to know Mary and Joe as the very best neighbors anyone could have. They were always friendly and kind to us. I believe it was the early '70's when they moved in next door to us. One never knows what kind of people are moving in, but Mary and Joe immediately showed us what wonderful people they were and we became the best of friends. Joe was just like my 2nd Dad, always willing to share his view of things and to encourage me to do the right thing. He was a true "Gentle Man" and I will miss him very much. Our deepest sympathy to Pat, Tony, my dear friend, Chuck, and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daniel R. Johnson, Katharine R. Johnson, Trevor D. Johnson and Grant D. Johnson.

To the Gutierrez family ..I was so deeply saddened to hear about your loss.Although no words can really help to ease the pain you bear - just know that you are very close in all my thoughts and prayers.
Patsy - if my hug was strong enough to take away your pain ... I would start now and never stop! God Bless You
